3D Printing

3D Printing allows for individual users to create physical objects from digital models that have been rendered in a computer-aided design (CAD) program

Services

Services

The 3D Printing service is available to students actively enrolled in Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Architectural & Engineering Design Technology courses at South Texas College. This facility is intended for assignments that require 3D printing, as outlined by instructors within the related fields. Projects that are outside the approved coursework will not be accepted at this time.

This program will be operating at the Pecan, Technology, Mid-Valley and Starr County campuses with the Stratasys F170 printer. The material used to build models will be ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) plastic, an opaque thermoplastic polymer material with strength, flexibility, machinability, and higher temperature resistance that makes it often a preferred plastic for engineers and professional applications.
